Gemba Kaizen And Continuous Improvement-OTH700

INTODUCTION
• Kaizen or continuous improvement is a concept that has been successful applied in many manufacturing organizations. The results are improved quality, reduction in late delivery and lower production costs. The basic concept of Kaizen is doing small improvement on a continuous basis. Usually, only small amount of investment in Kaizen can yield large returns. Many organizations have proven that through Kaizen, productivity is greatly improved.
• The purpose of this course is to familiarize the participants with the concept of Kaizen and try to implement the concept of Kaizen at their workplace. The use of poka yoke ideas can reduce manual error committed during assembly works. Application of sensors for error detection can greatly reduce quality problem. Production speed can also be increased through the use of simple tools such as jigs, templates and fixtures.

• Housekeeping is the basic item in any manufacturing sector. Good housekeeping will improve safety, quality, employeeís morale and company image to the customer as well as the public. Good housekeeping is a habit that must be cultivated to all employees. Merely asking employees to do cleaning will cause a lot of confusion and resentment. The Japanese has introduced a concept called 5S which is a structured housekeeping methods that has been proven in all Japanese manufacturing sector.
• This course aims to provide employees with the relevant tools and knowledge to do a proper housekeeping and turn it into a good habit. All the subjects in the course are directly related to operations. Basic understanding in housekeeping is the first step towards improvement in other areas.
